MOST EMMINENT KNIGHT GERALD A. RILEY
Grand Cross of the Order of the Temple
Our Most Eminent Supreme Grand Master was born at Manchester, England on August 22, 1933. He attended Grammar school in Audenshaw, leaving to join the Royal Navy in February of 1949. In March 1953 he transferred to the Royal Canadian Navy - retiring in April 1974.
In November 1975 he joined the Naval Reserve division HMCS Scotian - finally retiring in 1988 with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. From October 1973 until December 1997 he was employed as an Insurance Broker with final retirement from the working world occurring in February 1998. He is Past Vice-President of White Ensign Legion No. 129. A volunteer under the aegis of the VON and formerly delivered meals on wheels and visits to shut-ins. He is the Past President of the “Broom and Gavel” curling association. Gerald is married to the former Eileen Connor who has two children and two grandchildren He has two children from his wife (deceased) Ruth Mills and two grandchildren. His hobbies include golf, reading and travel.
Brother Gerald Riley was raised in White Ensign Lodge No. 129 in 1971, serving as Worshipful Master 1974 and made an Honourary Past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Nova Scotia in 2005. In 1974 he was Exalted in Royal Union Chapter No.1 and served as Most Excellent Grand High Priest of the Grand Chapter of Nova Scotia in 1986. Greeted in Adoniram Council No. 10 in 1978, he served Thrice Illustrious Master in 1986 and as Most Illustrious Grand Master of the Eastern Jurisdiction 1995. R.Em.Kt. Riley was Consecrated a Knight Templar in Antiquity Preceptory No. 5, Halifax in 1975, Presiding Preceptor in 1986, Provincial Grand Prior in 2000, dubbed Knight Commander of the Temple in Vancouver in 2006 and elected Deputy Grand Master at the 131st Annual Assembly 2014. Installed and invested as Supreme Grand Master and Grand Cross of the Temple in 2015.
